The Stomach
The stomach is where most of the chemical processes of digestion occur.

In the stomach there are many acids that break down foods into nutrients.

The stomach also participates in the physical processes of digestion. The stomach churns food smashing it together. Food leaves the stomach and goes into the small intestine where it is absorbed* into the blood.
