Unit 1: Just Looking Up

Unit 1 introduces students to astronomy as the study of our solar system and the universe beyond it. Major topics in this unit include the relationship between the Sun, Earth, and Moon, gravity, other stellar bodies (such as comets, asteroids, and meteroids), and the method of analyzing the light coming from distant galaxies.
